Dr. John Canning joined Silver Lake Family Dental in 2010. However, he has been with the practice since 1990…as a patient. Dr. John completed his Doctorate of Dental Surgery from the University of Illinois at Chicago. A life-long Southsider, Dr. John grew up in Palos Heights and is a current resident of Orland Park. Dr. John attended Marist High School and the University of Illinois at Urbana Champaign where he earned a Bachelor of Science in Economics. A member of the American Dental Association, the Chicago Dental Society and the Illinois State Dental Society, Dr. John is always advancing his clinical skills. He enjoys keeping up to date with the ever changing world of dentistry by attending continuing education seminars on topics including cosmetic dentistry, oral surgery, root canal therapy and dental implants. What Dr. John loves most about dentistry is the ability to change the patient’s quality of life through his or her smile. One of his main goals is to provide an enjoyable and relax environment where the patient and the dentist can work together to achieve a common goal – your perfect smile. An avid Chicago White Sox, Bulls, and Bears fan, Dr. John also enjoys golfing, grilling, home improvement projects, and spending time with his wife, Samantha and his daughters Emma and Molly.
